Michael Hickey was the original accidental activist whom Miranda spoke with as she began working on her book in 2019. Michael discovered toxic forever chemicals in his community’s drinking water and then encountered many hurdles before finally bringing about change in his hometown. Miranda and Michael will team up at the Hoosick Historical Society’s Louis Miller Museum to talk about Backroom Deals in Our Backyards, and Michael’s efforts to help his community overcome state and local secrecy and obtain cleaner drinking water.
